The IFAC Board is responsible for setting IFAC’s policy, overseeing IFAC operations, the implementation of programs, and the work of IFAC technical committees and task forces. It is comprised of individuals from 15 countries who are elected by IFAC’s Council for 3-year terms. The Board meets twice a year, typically in May and November.
At the May 2000 Board Meeting, held in Edinburgh, the Board inter alia admitted 10 new member bodies. With the admission of four new accountancy bodies to full membership and six to associate membership, IFAC’s total membership is 153 member bodies in 113 countries.
