Russian Auditors Join IFAC

The IFAC Board is responsible for setting IFAC’s policy, overseeing IFAC operations, the implementation of programs, and the work of IFAC technical committees and task forces. It is comprised of individuals from 15 countries who are elected by IFAC’s Council for 3-year terms. The Board meets twice a year, typically in May and November.

At the May 2000 Board Meeting, held in Edinburgh, the Board inter alia admitted 10 new member bodies. With the admission of four new accountancy bodies to full membership and six to associate membership, IFAC’s total membership is 153 member bodies in 113 countries. The newly admitted full members are:

• HTM-Tilintarkastajat ry – Finland;
• Georgian Federation of Professional Accountants and Auditors;
• The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Guyana (ICAG);
• The Chamber of Auditors of the Republic of Kazakhstan (CARK).

The following organizations were accepted as associate members:

• The Russian Auditors Collegium;
• Union of Accountants and Auditors of Kyrgyzstan;
• The Association of Accountants, Financial Experts and Auditors of the Republic of Macedonia;
• Ukranian Federation of Professional Accountants and Auditors (UFPAA);
• The Association of Accountants and Auditors of Uzbekistan;
• Albanian Institute of Authorized Chartered Accountants (IEKA).
• The Association of Accountants and Auditors of Uzbekistan.
